{"id":98024,"date":"2020-01-30T20:58:39","date_gmt":"2020-01-31T01:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=98024"},"modified":"2020-01-30T20:58:39","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T01:58:39","slug":"pbs39-honored-with-two-pab-excellence-in-broadcasting-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=98024","title":{"rendered":"PBS39, Honored with Two PAB Excellence in Broadcasting Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bethlehem, PA. &#8211; January 30, 2020<\/strong> &#8211; PBS39 earned two awards from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters (PAB) in the \u201cOutstanding Investigative Story\/Report\/Series\u201d category for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvt.org\/blogs\/lehigh\/youth-gang-violence-in-the-lehigh-valley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i><u>Stop the Violence<\/u><\/i><\/a> and in the \u201cOutstanding Television Public Service Announcement\/Campaign\u201d category for <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/380292941\/faaaaf54ee?width=1080\" data-rel=\"lightbox-video-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i>Red Billboard Campaign.<\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The PAB Excellence in Broadcasting Awards is an annual competition that encourages professional performance among radio and television stations in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are always humbled to be recognized, especially at the state level,\u201d Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of Lehigh Valley Public Media said. \u201cWe continue to look for opportunities to share our stories with the community at large, and we thank PAB for being a platform to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PBS39\u2019s winning content included part two, of the two part special report on youth violence and gangs in the Lehigh Valley, from PBS39 Reporter Corps \u00ae member Megan Frank. In this series, PBS39 examined the grim toll of youth violence and gangs in the Lehigh Valley. The winning package shared the story of a grieving mother trying to make sense of her loss; of efforts by law enforcement to stem the tide; and of \u201cStop the Violence,\u201d a movement led by young people and inspired by too many funerals for people too young.<\/p>\n<p>The other winning entry was Lehigh Valley Public Media\u2019s Red Billboard Campaign promo from the organization\u2019s in-house marketing team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt PBS39, we understand the importance of education through public media and how it affects the lives of our members and viewers,\u201d Yoni Greenbaum, Chief Content Officer said. \u201cThat\u2019s why we continue to develop our content, especially on the local level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Lehigh Valley Public Media\u2122<\/strong><br \/>\nLehigh Valley Public Media\u2122, home of PBS39\/WLVT, WLVR, and WPPT, acts as the catalyst to promote civic engagement, and to fulfill the regional needs of the Greater Lehigh Valley, through its dynamic communication platforms and resources.
