We invest in Signature Projects that celebrate the power of women coming together for a cause and believe in the importance of education and its role in building a secure future,\u201d announced Laurie Siebert, President, Women United.<\/p>\n<p>An affinity group of United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Women United has invested more than $1.4 million into the local community since 2002.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWomen are the fastest-growing philanthropic group in the world. Locally, it\u2019s really powerful to see leaders from all stages and walks of life united to make a real, lasting impact on the women and children of the Greater Lehigh Valley,\u201d added Marci Lesko, Women United member and Executive Vice President, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Local organizations and schools may apply for amounts between $20,000 and $40,000, with the average grant award estimated at $25,000. Funding is available for the program year beginning July 1, 2020 to support programs and services in the Greater Lehigh Valley that aim to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase high-quality educational opportunities for school readiness for children from birth through age 5<\/li>\n<li>Increase economic stability for women<\/li>\n<li>Improve literacy skills for women and families<\/li>\n<li>Increase girls\u2019 self-esteem, self-efficacy and access to STEM education opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Improve emotional wellness of students, especially those exposed to trauma<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase access to school-based programming for children in elementary school<\/li>\n<li>And increase access to housing and prevent homelessness for women and children<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Invitation for Applications, including eligibility criteria, is available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedwayglv.org\/take-action\/give\/women-united\/invitation-for-applications-2020-2021\">www.unitedwayglv.org\/wu<\/a>. The deadline for applications is March 20, 2020.
