{"id":98477,"date":"2020-02-10T13:50:18","date_gmt":"2020-02-10T18:50:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=98477"},"modified":"2020-02-10T13:50:18","modified_gmt":"2020-02-10T18:50:18","slug":"watermelon-magic-selected-as-a-2020-prix-jeunesse-finalist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=98477","title":{"rendered":"Watermelon Magic Selected as a 2020 Prix Jeunesse Finalist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bethlehem, PA &#8211; February 10, 2020<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/watermelonmagic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i><u>Watermelon Magic<\/u><\/i><\/a> has been selected as a finalist in the <a href=\"https:\/\/prixjeunesse.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>Prix Jeunesse<\/u><\/a> International Festival in the category of \u201cUp to 6 Years Non Fiction.\u201d The Prix Jeunesse International Festival is the oldest children and youth television festival worldwide and the most prestigious. <i>Watermelon Magic<\/i> was directed, written and produced by Richard Power Hoffmann and executive produced by Howard Blumenthal. PBS39 is proud to have been the presenting telecaster.<\/p>\n<p><i>Watermelon Magic<\/i> was chosen as a finalist from a field of almost 400 entries. Only one in five will be screened and judged at the festival in Munich, Germany in June 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrix Jeunesse has always represented the pinnacle of quality children\u2019s television programming around the world. We are thrilled that <i>Watermelon Magic<\/i> will be considered alongside the world\u2019s best children\u2019s programming from countries and cultures world,\u201d said Executive Producer Howard Blumenthal, who previously co-created and produced <i>Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?<\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ultimate goal of <i>Watermelon Magic<\/i> is to help children get excited about connecting with the earth and broaden the awareness of our role on this planet. Growing things is a way for us to be aware of nature. Plants grow very slowly, so from their perspective, the world of people moves very quickly. Watching things grow is a magical process\u201d said Richard Hoffmann.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being a finalist for the 2020 Prix Jeunesse Festival, <i>Watermelon Magic<\/i> will also be featured in the festival catalogue 2019\/2020 \u201cQuality in Children\u2019s TV Worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited because <i>Watermelon Magic<\/i> was designed for an international audience.
