It was a beautiful fall weekend to kick off the 11th year of Oktoberfest at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. In case you missed the festivities this weekend, you can still experience the fun during October 8th-10th. Oktoberfest 2021 features plenty of live music, traditional German folk dancing, German food and of course plenty of beer! In fact, there are four Biergartens: Hofbräu Biergarten, Samuel Adams/Dogfish Head Biergarten, Penn Beverage Biergarten, and the Yuengling Biergarten. You’ll find your favorite Oktoberfest food vendors like brats from Karl Ehmer and strudel from Heidi’s Strudel. There are special events such as the Wiener Dog Races, the PA State Steinholding Championship, Oktoberfest karaoke, Dragtoberfest, impromptu keg rolling and Steinholding competitions, and activities for kids.
I’ve highlighted a few key events coming up next weekend:
Wiener Dog Parade: October 9th & 10th at 12:30 pm.
Wiener Dog Races: October 9th at 1:30, 3, & 4:30 pm. October 10th at 1:30 pm.
The Pennsylvania State Steinholding Championship Finals: October 10th at 3pm.
I personally had a chance to enjoy German folk dancing, listen to some polka, see a few Steinholding and keg rolling competitions, and tried some sauerbraten and hackbraten. It’s a great time to be outside enjoying the fresh fall air. So bring your friends and head to Bethlehem for Oktoberfest activities, German food, live music, and my favorite, beer!
