Community invited to attend a gala fundraising dinner and auction.

Nazareth, PA—The Moravian Historical Society (MHS) is excited to announce its 16th annual Share the Heritage Dinner and Auction. This signature event, held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 on the grounds of the Historic Museum, is a unique themed dinner with entertainment. All proceeds from the evening support MHS’s mission to preserve, interpret, and celebrate the rich culture of the Moravians.

We invite guests to join us under the stars at the historic 1740-1743 Whitefield House. This year’s theme, “Cheers to 300 Years,” commemorates the 300th Anniversary of the renewed Moravian Church in Herrnhut, Germany. In 1722, a group of refugees seeking religious freedom came to Herrnhut, Germany. Over the last 300 years, the Moravians have influenced the world through their contributions to history, religion, art, music, and culture. These significant contributions can be seen in the Moravian Historical Society’s Museum with objects including the first violin made in America, the 1776 Tannenberg organ, and an important collection of John Valentine Haidt paintings.

The Moravian Historical Society will present its Heritage Award to Gwyneth Michel whose work as Assistant Director of the Moravian Music Foundation, Director of Music at College Hill Moravian Church, and conductor of the Unitas Chorale has added immeasurable value to the production and performance of Moravian Church music worldwide. Michel has been a valued partner with the Moravian Historical Society as she has brought many of our instruments to life, most notably by playing the 1776 Tannenberg Organ for audiences throughout the years.

The event will feature live music throughout the evening and also includes both a silent and live auction. All auction proceeds support the Moravian Historical Society’s educational programs and the preservation of the world-renowned museum collection and historic site.

The Moravian Historical Society thanks sponsors: Richard and Lyn Trodahl Chynoweth, Cornerstone Independent Asset Management, Christopher and Rebecca Crook, Darrell and Linda Crook, Susan Ellis and Richard Boak, Margaret and Steven Krawiec, the Moravian Development Corporation, the Moravian Theological Seminary, Ed and Lucy Perusse, Joseph F. Reichel Funeral Home, Anne and James Reid, Dave and Kathy Roth, Riddick and Jane Weber, Dave and Linda Wickmann, and Linda and Tom Zimmerman.
