BSI Corporate Benefits Marks 20 Years in Business
The employee benefits consulting firm celebrates two successful decades of client advocacy.
Bethlehem, Pa – BSI Corporate Benefits (BSI) originated in 2003 from Anthony (Tony) DaRe’s desire to advocate for members of his community. Two decades later, BSI stands tall as a champion of responsible stewardship for its clients in the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Humility, trust, balance, comfortably unique, and compassionately driven are the five values that guide nearly 50 employees’ work each day, leading them to a steadfast status as a for-profit company with a nonprofit heart.
Tony DaRe began his professional career working at a health insurance company. He regularly worked with consultants from whom he learned that representing clients would better fit him. After two years, Tony made the ambitious decision to start his own firm at age 24 with the help of Vince Colella and David Moss: BSI Corporate Benefits, which stands for Balance, Strength, Integrity.
The firm was headquartered in Detroit, Michigan for its first eight years. DaRe moved BSI to the Lehigh Valley in 2011, keeping the Michigan office’s doors open to maintain his significant client book there. As BSI found a new home in Bethlehem, Tony was dedicated to not starting over but building on the momentum coming from the Midwest. He had a go-big-or-go-home mentality and wanted to pursue large-group clients from day one. The first employee was Kerianne Geist, who played an invaluable role in engineering a marketing strategy and transforming BSI into a well-known and respected firm, gaining notable early clients such as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and KidsPeace.
Over the past twelve years in the Lehigh Valley, the team has grown exponentially. The five-person executive team consists of Tony DaRe as chief executive officer; Valerie Lewis as chief operating officer; and Vicki Doulé, Shawn Hughes and Nick Tranguch as senior vice presidents. They oversee a team of over 40 employees fiercely loyal to BSI and each other, each feeling responsible for building a working environment of trust, growth, mentoring and compassion.
As the team at BSI has grown, so has the client base. The firm has focused on pragmatic growth, ensuring that, before taking on more clients, the needs of their existing clients are being met and exceeded. This mentality has allowed them to responsibly scale up the market to successfully represent clients as large as 20,000 employees.
In addition to an impressive client book, BSI has earned multiple external recognitions, solidifying the firm’s position as one of the best in the business. They have been named the “Best Benefits Consulting Firm” in Eastern PA for the past six years and, since 2014, one of the fastest growing companies in eastern PA by Lehigh Valley Business. In 2020 and 2021, BSI earned a spot on the “Inc. 5000” list for fastest growing privately held companies in the United States. Among their proudest titles is the employee-voted “Best Workplaces” list in Inc. Magazine. They have earned this title three years in a row, and all three times, were the only employee benefits consulting firm to garner a spot.

DaRe and the rest of the team at BSI are looking forward to a bright future. A major change is on the horizon: the business will be relocated from Market St. to South Side Arts District in Bethlehem. The business will reside in the Victory Firehouse, with renovations on track to wrap up in August 2023. The new building gives room for the team to double in size to 100 employees throughout the coming years, coinciding with the continued rapid growth as a firm.
Evolution has become synonymous with BSI, yet the core identity of the agency stays the same. Each member of BSI is protective of its carefully-crafted culture of drive, commitment and compassion, values that cannot be taught. This mentality will allow BSI to achieve its fine-tuned definition of success for years to come.
