Help build a youth’s potential by mentoring through sports. Mentors meet once a month for 9 months with their mentee. All activities are organized and facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley. There is no cost to participate. Activities include attending sporting events (like the Phantoms or a college basketball game) or participating in sports activities (like a kickball game or the batting cages). The National Canal Museum (NCM) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with our children’s program, Kids on the Canal! Volunteers should enjoy doing crafts and demonstrating planned activities to kids visiting the museum every 3rd Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. from April to December. Colonial Foodways volunteers engage visitors with the history of Burnside Plantation through live cooking demonstrations in the summer kitchen. Volunteers will demonstrate open hearth cooking practices and recreate 18th and early 19th century recipes in period attire and answer visitor questions about early cooking and life on a colonial-era farm.
