FRONT STREET CLOSING FOR BRIDGE DEMOLITION



Update – November 10, 2014 The closing of Front Street mentioned below has been postponed until further notice.

 

NEWS RELEASENovember 7, 2014 Allentown PA.

Front Street (SR 1015) in the City of Allentown will be closed in both directions on Monday, November 10 and remain closed for approximately one year while the existing Front Street bridge over American Parkway is demolished and the at-grade intersection is completed.

The closure will begin just north of Furnace Street and end just south of Kurtz Street. Trucks will be detoured via Tilghman Street (SR 1002), Route 145 and Route 22; however, the car detour will follow the newly constructed Jordan Drive Access Road and Furnace Street. Note that access to Bridge Street from Front Street will be permanently shut off by this change.

The St. John’s Church parking lot can be accessed from Sumner Avenue via Bridge Street. Bridge Street will be converted to two way traffic for this purpose. Also please note that access to Furnace Street west of Front Street will be closed entirely during construction.
