Make the Road PA begins massive voter registration program in Reading, Lehigh and Philadelphia Area after Labor Day

PENNSYLVANIA – October 7th, 2019 is the last day to register to vote in Pennsylvania before the general election on Nov 5, and Make the Road PA (MRPA) is busy making sure that hundreds of people beat that deadline.

With a focus on communities of color and typically under-represented communities, MRPA is using a number of tools to boost voter numbers and turnout in the areas around their offices in Reading, Allentown, and NE Philadelphia. Dozens of members and organizers are meeting potential voters by walking the streets, attending events and energizing college communities to get the area ready for the elections. An in-depth, online campaign to reach people by phone, email and social media is also underway.

Elections in each city include races for Mayor, County Commissioner, School Board Director, City Council, and more.

“It’s important that our communities are represented in Pennsylvania well ahead of the Presidential elections in 2020,” said Maegan Llerena, Executive Director of Make the Road PA. “We are over 1 million strong here in PA and want to make sure that our voices are heard and every issue is addressed. Showing our power at the voting booth every year is just one way to do that.”

Make the Road PA, the largest Latinx organization in the state, building power for justice in Latinx communities through civic and community engagement.
