THOUSANDS WERE ON HAND TO ENJOY THE LOWER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY DAY EVENT

Between beautiful weather and a well-laid out event thousands of visitors enjoyed an evening of interacting with local business, emergency services and plenty of entertainment.

The Lower Macungie Township community center’s gymnasium was packed with local businesses and non-profit organizations sharing what they offer. There was an impressive amount of swag for children and adults to collect. The gymnasium was buzzing with conversations as residents discovered more about services from across the township.

Outside there was plenty to explore as well. Lower Macungie Township showcased equipment for children to explore. Local emergency services were represented by Lower Macungie Fire Department, Macungie Ambulance, and the Pennsylvania State Police. There was no shortage of children looking to explore the emergency vehicles and talk with first responders about what they do for the community.

There were many food trucks on hand. The parking lot in the food truck area at one point looked like a sea of people eagerly lined up to get food from their favorite food trucks.

Kids enjoyed crafts, air rides, and a petting zoo, while many adults found shade under a tent listening to live music. There were also character actors for the kids, and I am pretty sure Elvis was onsite too.

With all the activities, food, and waves of visitors, the evening had a festival feel. To aid with all the parking and foot traffic there was shuttle service and local fire police kept traffic moving smoothly.

It was easy to see much thought and preparation went into making this a successful event.
