Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley, PA., January 29, 2025 – ArtsQuest invites you to a day of culinary excitement and community celebration on Sunday, February 2! Whether you’re a soup lover or a fan of New Orleans-style cooking, this event has something for everyone. Join us for an exclusive cooking class where James Beard Award-nominated Chef Lee Chizmar will teach you how to create the perfect gumbo before attending the Fifteenth Annual Souper Bowl filled with local flavors and heartwarming soups – all in preparation for the big game in the Crescent City.

The Souper Bowl will feature local chefs, restaurants and caterers offering an array of unique, flavorful soups that will warm you up from the cold weather. Whether you’re a fan of classic chicken noodle or eager to try something new, there’s a soup flavor for everyone to enjoy. Guests will have the chance to sample soups, vote for their favorites and explore the diverse culinary landscape of the Lehigh Valley.

Begin your culinary journey with a hands-on experience in the kitchen. In a special afternoon class, Chef Lee Chismar will guide participants through the art of making gumbo. Chef Chizmar, known for his creative takes on Southern cuisine, will share tips and techniques on crafting this flavorful dish, taking you on a journey from prep to plate.

This cooking class is an exclusive opportunity to learn from one of the region’s most talented chefs and bring the taste of New Orleans to your own kitchen!

Event Highlights Include:

  • A variety of soups from local chefs and restaurants
  • Find the tastiest soups in each category: Cream-Based, Meat-Based, Most Unique, Seafood-Based, Vegan, Judges’ Favorite and People’s Choice
  • A Gumbo Cooking Class with Chef Lee Chizmar: An interactive, hands-on experience with Southern flavors and culinary techniques
  • Raffle for the chance to win gift cards from participating restaurants

The event is open to all ages and tickets are available at steelstack.org. The Gumbo Cooking Class with Chef Lee Chizmar will give plenty of time for Souper Bowl ticketholders to get to both events, however, you do not have to have a Souper Bowl ticket in order to attend this demonstration.
