New Officers and Trustees Appointed to the Board of The Foundation For The Bethlehem Area School District



 

 

(October 27, 2017, Bethlehem, PA) The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, raises funds to provide resources to promote innovative educational programs that enhance the learning opportunities for all students in the Bethlehem Area School District. Benefitting over 13,500 students of the Bethlehem Area School District, The Foundation provides funding towards Teacher Innovation Grants, Service-Learning Grants, Project Lead the Way Engineering Program, Project Lead the Way Biomedical Science Program, Curriculum based field trips and the Farm to School program at Broughal Middle School.

The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District appointed Jessica Moyer as President, Jennifer Ceneviva as Vice President and Michael Zile as Secretary. In addition to the newly elected officers, The Foundation introduced James Santanasto, Ed Boksan, Kim Hayes, Jennifer Roeder and Victoria Montero as the five newest members to the Board of Trustees.

We are fortunate that we have people who are dedicated to the district, and The Foundation is elevating itself to a level that will be beneficial to the district, to the students, and to the community. We are thankful for the continued commitment from Jess, Jennifer & Michael in their newly appointed officer roles with The Foundation. Their leadership skills will drive The Foundation’s continued success,” said Joseph Roy, Superintendent of Schools for Bethlehem Area School District and Liaison for The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District.

Jessica Moyer – President As an attorney at King, Spry, Herman, Freund and Faul LLC, Jessica handles complex family law cases including divorce, custody, support and protection from abuse matters. She also acts as assistant solicitor for multiple school districts. Jessica received her B.A. in Political Science and Communications from West Chester University and her Juris Doctorate from Villanova University School of Law. Jessica is a member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Bar Association of Lehigh County, Northampton County Bar Association, Monroe County Bar Association and Pennsylvania School Board Associations. In addition to being President of The Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District serving on the board the last 4 years, she is also the Vice President for Via of the Lehigh Valley. Jessica is the recipient of Women of Influence – 2017 award, 40 under 40 – 2014 award, and the Mission Award from the American Lung Association. Jessica has consistently been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer “Rising Star” by Super Lawyer Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine.

 

 

Jennifer Ceneviva – Vice President Jennifer Ceneviva, Vice President for the Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District, works with Edward Jones as a financial advisor. As a graduate of Liberty High School and proud member of the Grenadier Band, Jennifer is happy to now serve as a band parent. She graduated from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. In addition to her service with the Foundation, Jennifer is also an active member of Central Moravian Church. Previously she served as President of Executive Women International of the Lehigh Valley and as a

board member for the Women’s Council of the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. She resides with her husband Chris and sons Zachery and Josiah.

 

 

Michael Zile – Secretary Michael Zile is a Business Services Officer, Vice President, for the Lehigh Valley Region of BB&T. He has over 13 years of banking experience and is responsible for maintaining and developing commercial banking deposit and loan relationships. He graduated from Moravian College with a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in 2003 and from DeSales University in 2015 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). Michael is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Lehigh Valley. His community activities involve coaching and being involved with local education committees. He served as both the assistant coach and head coach of Bethlehem Catholic boys volleyball from 2002 to 2013. He was inducted into the Bethlehem Catholic Athletic Wall of Fame as a coach in 2016. He is still involved in youth sports as he is currently CYO girls volleyball coach for Our Lady of Perpetual Help and participates as a clinician in local clinics. Michael became involved in February 2015 as an education subcommittee member for the Upside Allentown. He became involved with the Business Advisory Council (BAC) for the Division of Business at DeSales University in November 2015. He is a lifelong resident of the Lehigh Valley and currently resides in Northampton with his wife and 2 daughters. Michael became a trustee for The Foundation of the Bethlehem Area School District in July 2016. He attended Bethlehem Area School District schools and currently has nieces and a nephew in the school district.

 

 

James Santanasto – New Trustee Jim was communications practitioner at Fortune 500 companies for more than 30 years, working in various corporate, from media relations and strategic planning to financial and internal communications. His assignments have helped him develop solid analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills and given him the flexibility to work with all types of media outlets, provide communications counsel, and compose messages for both internal and external audiences. Prior to joining the Lehigh University College of Business and Economics, Jim fulfilled a life-long dream by founding his own company Main Street Public Relations. Prior to that, he handled a variety of assignments, focusing on media relations, internal and marketing communications and corporate branding at PPL Corp. He started his business career by spending 16 years in the transportation industry with Mack Trucks and Union Pacific Railroad, concentrating on media relations, public relations, financial communications and corporate branding. A former public school teacher in the BASD, Jim was an adjunct professor in the ACCESS program at DeSales University and the MBA program at Lehigh University. He volunteers his time with The Literacy Center of the Lehigh Valley, Holy Infancy Church, DeSales University’s President’s Council, and the Morning Star Rotary in Bethlehem. Jim is a graduate of 1972 West Chester University with a bachelor’s degree in English and earned a master’s degree in English from Lehigh University in 1976.

 

 

Ed Boksan – New Trustee Ed was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and attended Governor Wolf Elementary School, East Hills Middle School and graduated from Freedom High School before attending Penn State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. In 1993 Ed began his career as an agent with New York Life. He has been a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) since 1994 and served as President of NAIFA of the Lehigh Valley from 1999-2000. Ed has earned the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) from The American College and is also designated a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF®). Ed has been very active in his community over the years. He currently serves on the the ArtsQuest Musikfest Committee and has been a 25-year Musikfest volunteer. He is a past president of the Northampton County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association and a past president of the Governor Wolf PTA. He chaired the Parent Advisory Committee of the Bethlehem Area School District from 2011 to 2017. He has coached Little League and tournament softball and currently serves as treasurer of The Patriot Club, Freedom High School’s all-sports booster organization. Ed is a verger and a past vestry member at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and is a member of the Vergers’ Guild of the Episcopal Church. In the fall of 2017 Ed was selected to serve on the UCLA Parents’ Council. Ed has been married to his wife, Karen, since 1991. They have a daughter named Jana and a Yellow Lab named Sophie. In his spare time Ed enjoys photography, golfing, reading biographies of the founding fathers and watching Penn State and UCLA football and Phillies and IronPigs baseball.

 

 

Kim Hayes – New Trustee Kim Hayes is a District Manager for Sodexo, School Services. In this position, she leads her management teams to deliver exceptional Food Service Management services in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to all of Sodexo’s clients and customers. Kim earned her B.S. in Hotel/Restaurant Management from East Stroudsburg University. She serves as Alumni Advisor for Education for Alpha Omicron Pi at ESU. She is a Co-Chair for Sodexo’s African American Leadership Forum for New Jersey and Pennsylvania which helps to support the “Adopt a school Program” for Donegan Elementary School. She is a business member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials and the School Nutrition Association. Kim supports Sodexo’s Stop Hunger Foundation through partnerships with Second Harvest Food Bank and Norwescap. As a former Food Service Director for the Bethlehem Area School District, Kim wishes to contribute to and support the great efforts of the Bethlehem Area School District.

 

 

Jennifer Roeder – New Trustee Jennifer Roeder is a proud parent of 3 children in BASD and married to a teacher in the district. She works at Coordinated Health where she is the VP of Clinic Operations where she focuses on process improvement, patient satisfaction and employee engagement. Jennifer understands that education and health care face the same challenges and is convinced that there is a unique synergy between the two. When health care organizations and professionals invest in the education of our children, we are creating a strong future work force of students who want to better their communities and take care of the people who live there. The future generation of health care workers will be forced to solve problems and create innovative solutions to making health care more accessible, efficient and affordable and Jen feels that health care professionals have an obligation to participate in educating our youth. Jennifer graduated from Lehigh University with an BA in Biology, Thomas Jefferson University with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and DeSales University with an MBA in Health Care Administration. She serves on the Advisory Board for DeSales DPT Program and BAVTS Health and Fitness Education Program.

 

 

Victoria Montero – New Trustee Victoria Montero is a graduate of the Bethlehem Area School District. She works at St. Luke’s University Health Network as the Manager for Youth Development Initiatives and has been employed by the network for the past 15 years. Victoria is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the career mentoring programs, where she ensures that at-risk youth are given the tools and opportunities to succeed in the healthcare field. She does this by orchestrating a collaborative partnership between the school district and St. Luke’s University Health Network. The programs emphasize increasing graduation rates among high-risk populations, improving English language skills for English as a Second Language Learners, providing work experience for high school students in the healthcare field, while teaching employability skills, and diversifying the healthcare workforce. Victoria is committed to health equity and is activity involved with the Hispanic Center of the Lehigh Valley, where she is instrumental in developing a Center for Integrated Health in conjunction with St. Luke’s. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Services Administration and a Master’s in Public Health from East Stroudsburg University. Victoria is interested in issues related to health equity, immigrant health, and education for vulnerable populations.
