(LOWER MACUNGIE, Pa.) –  Ryan Mackenzie, Republican candidate for Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge promising to oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses, and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing taxes.

“I am proud to be the first candidate in the race for Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District to sign this pledge. As a State Representative, I have consistently fought for the American taxpayer. I have never voted for a tax increase and I was the prime sponsor of legislation that eliminated the inheritance tax on small family businesses. I look forward to continuing my record of cutting and eliminating taxes that are taking money out of the pockets of American workers and impeding economic growth. Just merely holding the line is not enough.”

In response to Ryan’s pledge, Grover Norquist stated:

“I strongly applaud Ryan Mackenzie for taking a principled stand and signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. He has exhibited a true dedication to fiscal responsibility and pro-growth tax policy by making this commitment. This Pledge is a powerful symbol of his unwavering support for hardworking taxpayers and their right to keep more of their hard-earned money.” Grover continued, “With Mackenzie’s Pledge, we can trust that he will champion pro-growth policies, protect our economic freedom, and resist any attempts to burden Americans with even higher taxes.”

Mackenzie was also the first to sign the US Term Limits pledge among other candidates in the race for Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. Now, Mackenzie challenges the other candidates in the race to join him in signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
