Plamen ‘Rocco’ Ayvazov of Dream Boyd Theatre Honored with Downtown Vision Award by Bethlehem Chamber
Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem, PA, April 28, 2025 – The Bethlehem Chamber has proudly awarded Plamen ‘Rocco’ Ayvazov, owner and developer of the Dream Boyd Theatre, the Downtown Vision Award in recognition of his transformative work reimagining the beloved Boyd Theatre — a historical icon in Bethlehem — and for his outstanding contributions to the revitalization and economic growth of the downtown district.
This prestigious honor celebrates leaders who exemplify a forward-thinking approach to urban development, blending commercial innovation with community enrichment. Ayvazov’s vision for the Dream Boyd Theatre has not only preserved the legacy of the original Boyd, but reimagined it as a dynamic cultural, residential and entrepreneurial hub.
Ayvazov led a bold redevelopment that honors the theatre’s legacy. The site has been thoughtfully reborn as a vibrant apartment complex with commercial space on the first floor, blending modern urban living with echoes of the past. Throughout the project, Ayvazov carefully preserved and incorporated key architectural and design elements from the original Boyd, ensuring that its spirit continues to be felt in the new space.
“I’m deeply honored to receive the Downtown Vision Award,” said Ayvazov. “Reviving the Boyd was about more than bricks and mortar, it was about preserving a piece of Bethlehem’s soul while looking toward the future. I wanted to create something that respects where we came from and supports where we’re going while also bringing much-needed housing to the downtown area.”
Today, the Dream Boyd Theatre stands as a model of thoughtful, impactful development — one that enhances economic opportunity, strengthens community and reaffirms Bethlehem’s rich cultural heritage.
Ayvazov will officially receive this award at the Bethlehem Chamber’s Annual Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 5 p.m., located at Dream Boyd Theatre, 30 W. Broad Street.
