Downtown Allentown Alliance Announces Board Leadership
Matthew Malozi to serve as Chairperson, and Kyle Edwards to serve as Vice Chairperson.
ALLENTOWN, PA, May 13, 2025 —The Downtown Allentown Alliance (DAA), a new organization formed to build on the tremendous success downtown Allentown has achieved over the past decade, announced today that Matthew Malozi will serve as Chairperson and Kyle Edwards will serve as Vice Chairperson of its Board of Directors, effective immediately.
The DAA, which officially launched in 2025, is dedicated to strategically increasing activation and engagement, retail variety and support, clean and safe streets, recognition of diverse cultures, and positive public perception of downtown Allentown. The DAA works to meet its goals for continuously improving downtown Allentown through community input, public and private funding and, a recent partnership with United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Malozi is Vice President of Corporate Development for Remington and Vernick Engineers, the Lehigh Valley-based civil engineering firm that in 2023 merged with a firm that Malozi cofounded and owned, Civitas Regio. Prior to that, he was Regional Vice President of RETTEW Associates, overseeing operations of its downtown Allentown office, among others. Malozi is extremely active in the local community, currently serving as Treasurer of the Allentown Arts Commission, a member of Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA) Board, Vice Chairman of the Bethlehem Planning Commission, and a member of the Bethlehem Area Vocational- Technical School General Authority Board. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering systems from the University of Pennsylvania.

Edwards is an art educator and artist based in Allentown. He specializes in mural art and graphic design and created a program through which he has worked with thousands of students in the Lehigh Valley, guiding them in the design and installation of large-scale murals. In addition to his artistic endeavors, Edwards owns inkwell, a local creative space that hosts dozens of shows each month to celebrate the arts. He is deeply involved in the local community, as an ArtsQuest artist resident, Vice Chairman of the Allentown Arts Commission, and a member of both the Downtown Business Alliance and the William Allen Arts Alliance. He has completed and installed more than 30 murals worldwide.
Last year, the DAA Steering Committee led by Sen. Nick Miller partnered with Public Sphere Projects, a national planning consultant, to develop a comprehensive strategy to cohesively manage and boost Downtown Allentown’s many assets. Using public input from surveys and events, retailer market analysis, and stakeholder focus groups, the firm recommended DAA focus on four strategic pillars:
- Enhance Engagement & Vibrancy
- Inspire Loyalty & Advocacy
- Curate a Dynamic Retail Landscape
- Celebrate and Elevate Cultural Heritage
