SCHNECKSVILLE, PA (June 10, 2025) – As the stigma surrounding mental and behavioral health fades, the field of children’s mental healthcare intersects with traditional medical care in more places than ever before. The Spring/Summer 2025 issue of KidsPeace’s Healing Magazine focuses on those intersections and the ways they can improve care on both sides of the equation – including:
- A groundbreaking study of parenting styles among rats indicates that resilience in the face of chronic stress could be tied to physiological changes prompted by how much nurturing attention a child receives early in their lives.
- Practitioners in dentistry and nutrition detail how children’s mental health can be
affected — and addressed — through better oral health and a healthy diet.
- An addict in recovery discusses 12 ways exercise provides life-saving “muscle memory” for those battling substance abuse.
- And a pediatrician explains why she started a podcast dedicated to making consideration of mental health “a cornerstone and integral part of pediatric practice.”
The latest issue of Healing also features a photo essay of a “simulation laboratory,” in which newly hired mental health staff can practice the extensive training they receive in direct care operations before entering an actual treatment space. And, just in time for summer, the issue offers parents some practical strategies to encourage teens to put away screens and reconnect with the outdoors.
Twice a year, Healing Magazine delivers thought-provoking information and perspectives that address issues of importance to children’s professionals, therapists, educators, parents, and others who have an interest in seeing kids grow, thrive and succeed in life. Articles in the latest issue are available for download and sharing at
