Camelot for Children Launches Camp Camelot 2025: An Inclusive Summer of Joy, Learning, and Community

Allentown, PA – May 8, 2025 — Camelot for Children is thrilled to announce the return of Camp Camelot, a beloved summer tradition serving children with special needs and medical complexities. This year’s camp, running from June 16 through July 25, will bring the magic of childhood to life for over 125 children, with the help of more than 200 teen volunteers, dedicated community partners, and generous sponsors.

“Camp Camelot is more than just a summer camp—it’s a sanctuary of acceptance, inclusion, and joyful exploration,” said Emily Werner, PT, MSPT, MBA, Executive Director of Camelot for Children. “It is a place where all children, regardless of their abilities or circumstances, can be celebrated for exactly who they are.”

The 6-week camp, free to all families thanks to philanthropic support, offers a full spectrum of recreational, educational, and enrichment experiences, from arts and crafts to sports, themed weeks, guest visitors, and four exciting field trips. Highlights of this summer’s lineup include appearances from beloved mascots—the LV IronPigs, MeLVin from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and performances by local artists and professionals.

Each week at Camp Camelot is built around a unique theme, incorporating guest speakers, crafts, group activities, and life-skills lessons to promote confidence, independence, and social connection. Carefully designed to be accessible to children with a wide range of needs and abilities, the camp fosters belonging and joy in a way that is truly transformational.

Corporate and community partners from St. Luke’s University Health Network, Erie Insurance, Trinity Life Sciences, Cedar Crest College, LCCC Nursing, and many others will join forces with volunteers to ensure a memorable, inclusive experience for every camper.

Camelot’s summer programming is rooted in health equity—ensuring that all children, regardless of income, ability, or background, can access safe, joyful opportunities to play, learn, and grow. Through inclusive play spaces, health education workshops, nutritious meals and snacks, and a compassionate community of support, Camp Camelot is a model for how summer enrichment can bridge the gap in wellness and opportunity for children with medical or developmental needs.

Success will be measured not just in numbers, but in smiles, friendships, increased confidence, and in the countless stories shared by families and volunteers. The goal for 2025 is to maintain an average of 50 children participating in each camp event, while also growing the teen and adult volunteer base, whose leadership and compassion are at the heart of Camelot’s mission.

A cornerstone of the Lehigh Valley community since 1985, Camelot for Children continues to enrich the lives of children with special needs through free, year-round programming that inspires growth, connection, and hope. Camp Camelot stands as a living embodiment of that mission—a place where children are safe, supported, and celebrated.

“Camp is a time when my child can just be a kid,” said one parent. “The staff and volunteers make every day special. Camelot gives our family peace of mind and our child the summer memories they deserve.”
