GRAMMY-WINNING TRIO TIME FOR THREE KICKS OFF 118th BETHLEHEM BACH FESTIVAL ON MAY 7th

BETHLEHEM, Pa – The Bach Choir of Bethlehem closes out its 2025–2026 season with a bold and boundary-crossing performance by the acclaimed ensemble Time for Three, appearing Thursday, May 7 at 7 PM at the Musikfest Café at ArtsQuest.

A self-described “classically trained garage band,” Time for Three has earned national and international recognition for redefining what a classical concert can be. Violinists Nick Kendall and Charles Yang, and double bassist Ranaan Meyer blend classical precision with the spirit of Americana, bluegrass, jazz, and rock, creating performances that are electrifying.

Presented as part of the Bach Choir’s Outside the Bachs series, this performance explores how the influence of Johann Sebastian Bach continues to resonate far beyond the Baroque era. Time for Three’s innovative programming reimagines Bach’s legacy through a contemporary lens, weaving together classical works with original compositions and unexpected musical influences.

This crossover program connects the music of J.S. Bach with Time for Three’s wide-ranging repertoire, moving between classical and contemporary influences. The trio brings together unexpected mixes, blending the brilliance of Bach with inspirations as varied as Guns N’ Roses and Gustav Mahler, creating a setlist that highlights both contrast and connection across centuries.

The 118th Bethlehem Bach Festival (May 7-10) is the culminating celebration of our season – a cherished homecoming that brings audiences together in the heart of historic Bethlehem. Continuing the new four-day Festival format we introduced last year, this expanded celebration marks the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding by honoring the Moravian musical heritage that helped shape the Bach Choir. With performances of music from the Moravian archives, insights from distinguished scholars, and collaborations with Moravian partners both in the Lehigh Valley and abroad, this year’s Festival invites us to reflect on where we came from and why it matters. With all beloved traditions – plus a few exciting new additions – this milestone Festival offers a powerful tribute to legacy, community, and the enduring joy of Bach.
