“TAKEOVER 12” Faith-Based Hip-Hop Event to Take Over
City Limits in Allentown October 14

Concert to feature headliner No Malice, with Reconcile, Ruslan,  and more; hosted by Takeover Records and Rapzilla.com.

From the very beginning, the “TAKEOVER” series has been one that its founder, Angelo “Laro” Maldonado, created more than 10 years ago to be more than “just” a faith based hip-hop event with free admission and an opportunity for youth to share faith and music in a safe setting.

Maldonado, founder of Takeover Ministries and Takeover Records and a community activist in Allentown, PA, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his first TAKEOVER event with “TAKEOVER 12” on October 14 at the City Limits Church in Allentown, PA.

With this year’s version of this unique artist showcase, its headliner, Gene Thornton, (now known as “NO MALICE,” formerly known as “Malice”), is about to take this particular Takeover to the next level, Maldonado said in a release.

NO MALICE came to prominence as one half of the critically acclaimed hip-hop duo known as “the CLIPSE.” Along with his brother Terrence Thornton (aka PUSHA T), Thornton produced three major label albums that included the platinum-selling debut “Lord Wilin'” and the universally lauded sophomore album “Hell Hath No Fury.”

As part of the CLIPSE, NO MALICE worked under the artistic tutelage of the legendary Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter PHARRELL WILLIAMS, who not only signed the sibling duo to his record label, STAR TRAK ENTERTAINMENT, but also produced the bulk of the CLIPSE’S music and also afforded the group opportunities to work with likes of megastars such as Justin Timberlake and Kanye West.

After working with Williams, a ‘super producer’ who has worked with the likes of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and after achieving formidable hip-hop success with his brother PUSHA T, NO MALICE has decided to step out from the duo’s shadow as a solo performer and emcee for the sake of his own artistic and spiritual growth, Maldonado explained.

NO MALICE’S post-CLIPSE career has resulted in not only two well anticipated albums that clearly speak to his redemption as a Christian, but it also has resulted in a well-received documentary film, “The End Of Malice,” that expertly details his transition from former drug dealer to urban disciple and now faith-based performer.

“The End Of Malice” was considered a stunning visual achievement that saved and impacted the lives of many young people throughout the country, and it attests to the performer’s highly anticipated headlining appearance at TAKEOVER 12, Maldonado said.
TAKEOVER 12 will be held on Saturday October 14, 2017, at the City Limits Assembly of God Church, which is located at 302 Ridge Avenue in Allentown, PA, only a short 90 minute drive from New York City and only 60 minutes from Philadelphia and the Poconos.
ADMISSION IS FREE. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m.

In addition to NO MALICE, “TAKEOVER 12” will feature a stellar cast of supporting artists, ministers, and deejays that includes DAARINAH, JOEY JEWISH, RUSLAN, URBAN D, DJ WADE-O, RECONCILE & MALAKAI THA TRUTH.

In addition to the music, there also will be a special workshop on the important social issues of mental illness. That workshop discussion will be facilitated by current Allentown Police Detective, former Allentown Mayoral candidate, and motivational speaker LUIZ D. GARCIA.

Garcia will share his positive story of struggle and eventual success as a young Latino male growing up in the City of Allentown and eventually returning home to serve his community as a leader with his LDG Leadership message.

City Limits Pastor JIMMIE RIVERA will also be a featured speaker on the impact of depression, and there will be other speakers who will talk about other issues, including opiod addiction and teen suicide.

Don’t miss the $100 Freestyle Competition and the $100 B-Boy Dance Competition!
“TAKEOVER 12” promises to be a life-altering event that raises the stakes in evangelism and social work that goes beyond the typical music showcase, Maldonado said. Be there to witness the ministry and the spectacle.
