Hatch House Announces Business-Model Competition Finalists

“Hatch House Open” Finals open to the public on March 9

Bethlehem, P.A. – February 29, 2016 – Hatch House, the Tri-State area’s live/work business incubation network, announces finalists for their inaugural “Hatch House Open,” a business-model competition that  started in December 2015 with more than 70 applicants vying for more than $8,000 in prize money, accounting and consulting hours, and access to Hatch House’s mentor network. The three-round competition wraps up Wednesday, March 9 at the Hatch House Open Finals, 7:30p.m. at Originate Ventures, when attendees can watch the finalists’ pitches and network with investor judges. Tickets are on sale via the company’s website, hatchhouseventures.com, and social media channels.

The finalists include: ProjectMQ, a social media app developed by Marcus and Malcom Howard to connect, support and grow the global indie gaming community; Soltech Solutions, a company founded by Paul Hodges, Mike Planer and Christopher Clark to develop and provide the highest standards of  renewable energy and energy efficient products; and Parking Bee, an app developed by Mike Black and Richard Armitage for people to make money renting out their parking spaces in cities across the country.

The business-model competition coincides with Hatch House announcing a search for new entrepreneurial residents and members at its flagship startup house in Bethlehem, Pa. The opportunity for seed-stage companies to get their start at Hatch House comes nearly a year after the company first opened its doors as a live-in resource center for businesses in the ideation stage. Entrepreneurs from around the globe are invited to apply for space.

“In my experience, it takes a village to grow a startup. It’s very difficult to do on your own. We’re working with the resources and business leaders in each community we serve to help our startups grow, but we’re also cultivating a network that is becoming very strong,” says Hatch House co-founder Steve Boerner. “That network encompasses like-minded entrepreneurs and mentors who understand that if you give help to others, it comes back ten-fold. It’s a beautiful thing to watch that unfold.”

About Hatch House Hatch House is drastically changing how entrepreneurs live and launch business. Beyond housing, Hatch House is a community of resources elevating small business potential both within a live-work incubator and within the local community. Hatch House is on a social mission, providing an environment to foster the growth of business ideas. Hatch House is located in Bethlehem, PA and Newark, DE and has recently furthered expansion with a non-residential partnership with Rowan University.
