Allentown School District In Your Schools: November 7 – 18, 2016



 

Allentown School District announces the following events and activities throughout our District. Highlights include:

November 8 – No School for ASD Students. This is an In-Service Day for staff and faculty. 

  • Dieruff High School – November 8; 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.: Holocaust Exhibit – open to public. The exhibit features photographs taken by the first companies of American troops to enter the camp, along with posters that depict the rise of Hitler’s “Final solution,” and war-era memorabilia from the American home front.  Many of the materials have been gracious provided by Shari Sparks of the Jewish Federation in Allentown, PA and a private collection by Marylou Lordi. During this time MaryLou Lordi will offer tours of the exhibit and answer any questions.

 

  • Lehigh Parkway Elementary School – November 10; 5:30 p.m.: Movie Night Zootopia for Lehigh Parkway families, in the Gym. Admission is one non-perishable food item per person.

 

  • William Allen High School – November 12; 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.: ASD Community Fun Day in the Gym. Open to all ASD families; Free of charge. The event will feature performances by HALA, the William Allen High School Chorale, the Repertory Dance Theatre, William Allen Guitar Club, William Allen Band, as well as entertainment by a DJ. Other activities include face painting, board games, dominoes tables and BINGO. Families will be able to find out information about community and educational program.

 

  • Hiram W. Dodd Elementary School – November 15; during the day: Dental Health Puppet Shows for Kindergarten and Grade 1. Students learn about proper dental hygiene through this fun puppet presentation.

 

  • Trexler Middle School – November 15; 11:30 a.m.: Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Troupe Hamlet Performance for Grade 8.

 

  • ASD Middle Schools– November 16; 7:00 p.m.: Annual Middle School Latin Dance Competition in the William Allen High School, Dr. John McHugh Auditorium located at 106 N. 17th Street. Tickets are: $5/adults and $3/students with ID.
