Lehigh Valley Viticulture the Focus of Annual Harvest Weekend Celebration along the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail



 

LEHIGH VALLEY, PA – August 30, 2018 – On Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9, the nine locally owned and operated wineries of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail will celebrate the grape harvest during the annual Harvest Weekend event. The wineries will welcome wine lovers for a variety of different activities and features at each winery, such as wine tastings, vineyard and winery tours, food and wine pairings, food trucks, and live entertainment. Event hours are Saturday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon – 5 p.m. Harvest Weekend is a free event, however each winery sets its own fee policy for wine tastings, live music, and vineyard and winery tours. HARVEST WEEKEND 2018 HIGHLIGHTS

Amore Vineyards in Nazareth will serve rigatoni Bolognese paired with Cabaret Amore wine.

Black River Farms in Bethlehem – Enjoy your wine tasting with food samples by the chefs from Feast catering, expertly curated to pair with our wine. Meyers Catering will sell pulled pork, turkey BBQ and grilled sandwiches. Kathy Kovacs will teach simple screen-printing by Chalk Couture. Create a personalized canvas, sign or coaster to add to your home’s décor. Pay per piece. Live music on Saturday from 3-5 pm by John Rodden, and on Sunday from 2-5 pm by Scott Marshall & the Hillbilly Souls.

Blue Mountain Vineyards in New Tripoli– sample Riesling and Mountain Frost with spicy Thai peanut noodles from Cathy’s Creative Catering. Additional vendors include CJ’s Mustards, Damn Yankee Wine Jelly, and Sweet Finesse Local Chocolatier. Featuring live music by Ralph Pangano from 1-4 pm.

Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery in Breinigsville will welcome The Nesting Box from Kempton, which offers a self-serve business of cage free, all natural brown eggs, along with a number of other locally produced foods, such as cheeses and baked goods. Purchase Clover Hill wines and other locally produced foods at the winery in Breinigsville. As an added celebration they will be serving up a Sparkling Sunday on Sunday, September 9 from noon – 4 pm.

Franklin Hill Vineyards in Bangor will feature a fall-themed cocktail bar with Social Still spirits and their wines. Several local vendors will be onsite for shopping. There will also be a family-friendly hayride at 2 pm and 4 pm. Hayride tickets are $10 for adults and include a glass of sangria; kids ride for free and get cookies and a glass of juice. Wine tastings will be available all day, and guided vineyard tours will be offered at noon and 2 pm.

Galen Glen Winery in Andreas– On Saturday and Sunday sample bacon BBQ popcorn using local “Chef Salt” paired with our renowned Rieslings. Chef Salt is a magical combination of herbs and spices that brings the art and craft of professional cooking into the home kitchen. Co-Creator David Joachim is a local Author & Chef. Included in our $5 tasting.

Taste the Grape, Taste the Wine – Saturday & Sunday
Have you ever wondered about the grape varietals that produce the wines you love? Join us weekends during harvest to taste the grape, then taste the wine.

Walking Tour of the Vineyard & Wine Cellar – Saturday & Sunday
Enjoy a guided walking tour of the vineyard and wine cellar at 1 pm, highlighting the Troxell family’s stewardship of this land for over 200 years. Walking tours are about one hour in length, meandering through our rocky, hillside terrain and given weather permitting. Please wear appropriate footgear. Tours are $5 per guest and include a glass of wine. Must be over 21.

Cheeseboard Day – Saturday only
Our favorite selection of cheeses and accouterments ready to enjoy with a glass of wine.

Brunch with the Randevoo Food Truck 11 am – 2 pm – Sunday only
Serving up a fun fusion of East meets West with both meat and veggies. Sample menu items include pork belly, 100% vegan sandwiches, wings, tempura, and pickles. Pinnacle Ridge Winery in Kutztown will feature food by their friends at the Gourmand Café in Reading. Enjoy a choice of blanched asparagus spears wrapped in roast beef with a horseradish aioli and shaved Parmesan, or truffled chicken salad with dried cranberries and candied pecans on a toasted French baguette. Each option will be paired with a choice of 2016 Chambourcin (a light-bodied dry red), or for a semi-sweet option, 2017 Quaff.

Tolino Vineyards in Bangor – Enjoy a taste of a decadent apple-inspired dessert from Barred and Broody Bakery with sparkling apple cider sangria. Cruise through the vineyard in style to check out the ripening grapes on wagon tours of the vineyard at 2 pm and 4 pm. Live music by George Baier on Saturday.

Vynecrest Winery in Breinigsville will pair Autumn Gold wine, a sweet signature blend of estate-grown grapes, with Stuffed to the Grills food truck’s orzo salad – a mix of local oven-roasted eggplant, bell peppers, red onion and garlic dressed in a lemon vinaigrette with scallions, basil, and feta cheese.
