Barto, Pennsylvania: The beauty of sustainable growing is at work on Wild Fox Farm but they need your help to bring the power of sustainable energy to life. The small Berks County farm will officially launch their crowdfunding campaign on Earth Day – Friday, April 22, 2016 – in hopes of raising $35,000.00 for the installation of a rooftop solar array and an energy efficient walk-in freezer.

Family owned and operated by Ben and Karah Davies, Wild Fox Farm practices holistic and sustainable methods to nurture 40 acres of farmland in Pennsylvania’s beautiful Butter Valley. They maintain five acres of vegetables, raise pastured poultry and eggs, wood lot pork, and free range lamb. Their products are shared with the community through summer and winter CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares, farm-to-table restaurants, and sold at the Emmaus Farmers Market every   Sunday.

Meat and vegetables are currently stored using six chest freezers, which require six compressors to run, plus an offsite freezer facility to store meats. With the recent increase of demand, this storage method is no longer practical and will have negative effects on our environment in the long run. It’s imperative that they secure more efficient and eco-friendly equipment to continue the encouragement of healthy bodies, healthy minds, and healthy land.

There is an obvious price tag that comes with such equipment, which is why Wild Fox Farm has turned to Barnraiser, a crowdfunding platform for millions of people who want better health for themselves and the planet. Barnraiser (www.barnraiser.us) makes it easy to discover, share, and fund the people changing   how we farm, eat and live.

There are a variety of ways to show your support for the campaign, which will run April 22 through   June They include:

  • VISIT – Fegley’s Brew Works (Allentown) April 25 to celebrate the campaign launch.
  • DONATE – every amount helps, from $5.00 to $500.00.
