Employees Rally to Help Homeless Pets During the Holidays

Lehigh Valley, PA – December 9, 2021 – Service Electric employees have always been community-minded when it comes to the Lehigh Valley. This holiday season the dogs and cats at The Center for Animal Health & Welfare in Easton will benefit from this philanthropic attitude. For the fourth year in a row, the 418 employees of Service Electric have gathered thousands of dollars in pet supplies and monetary donations for this life-saving pet adoption shelter, being delivered on Friday, December 10.

The coordinator for this project at Service Electric Cable TV & Communications is Tracy Haas, accounting manager, with help from Marissa Koons and Samantha Schaner in the accounting department. This is just one of many charitable activities spearheaded by this team throughout the year. They are also involved in managing “Strides for Cancer”, “Trunk-or-Treat” and “Operation Christmas” with the Service Electric employees.

“We are happy to help support The Center for Animal Health & Welfare,” noted John M. Walson, President of Service Electric. “We have made a commitment to the Greater Lehigh Valley to be more than just an Internet and cable provider. Our employees live and work in this valley and we are obligated to support the organizations in the community we serve because it’s the right thing to do.”

The Center for Animal Health and Welfare is a 501c3 non-profit organization, relying on donations from supporters like Service Electric to help sustain their mission. With an annual operating budget in excess of $900,000, the shelter uses fundraising, donations and bequests to cover approximately 90% of the expenses. While the shelter employs some paid workers, many of the staff work on a volunteer basis.

“Service Electric has been supporting our shelter for many years,” said Kelly Bauer, Executive Director.  “Thanks to their support, we are able to provide programs like ‘Dog’s Day Out’, which gets our homeless pups out for a fun day with a staff member and the ‘Friends of Fred’ reading program, combining reading literacy and animal enrichment.  We are humbled by our friends at Service Electric for being the change they wish to see in the world.”
