The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, one of America’s most venerable musical institutions, announces the appointment of attorney and civic leader Alan S. Battisti as President of its Board of Managers. A longtime champion of the arts and seasoned legal strategist, Attorney Battisti assumes leadership at a time of extraordinary momentum for the Choir—following its acclaimed European tour, a reimagined Festival format, and the unfolding of an ambitious new artistic and educational season.

Battisti’s appointment signals a season not only of renewal, but of resonance—where tradition and bold vision harmonize in service of the Bach Choir’s timeless mission. Bethlehem, Pa – The Bach Choir of Bethlehem is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan S. Battisti as the President of its Board of Managers. A partner at the Lehigh Valley Law Firm KingSpry, and a long-time supporter of the arts, Mr. Battisti brings a deep commitment to community leadership and executive vision to this new role after serving on the Executive Committee of the Board of Managers.

As Board President, Battisti takes on this new mantle at an exciting and pivotal time for the Bach Choir, as they prepare to move forward with their 2025-2026 season programs and strategic plan.

“It is a huge honor and privilege to be able to serve the cultural community of the Lehigh Valley through The Bach Choir of Bethlehem,” said Battisti. “Nothing brings people together like music, and there is no greater source of music in the Lehigh Valley than The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, whose talents are recognized throughout our country and worldwide.”

Alan S. Battisti chairs the Litigation Practice Group at Lehigh Valley law firm KingSpry, where he focuses on general litigation and insurance law. He has extensive experience representing individuals, commercial entities, and government agencies, and previously served as assistant solicitor for Northampton County. In that role, he provided legal counsel to departments including Human Services, Children, Youth and Families, and the Area Agency on Aging.

A graduate of Temple University (B.B.A.) and the Dickinson School of Law (J.D.), Battisti is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania. He is an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He previously served as the Vice President on the Bach Choir of Bethlehem’s Board of Managers.

Battisti succeeds outgoing President Harold G. Black, who retired after more than 20 years of service to the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, including a decade as President of the Board of Managers. Mr. Black helped steward the organization through the pandemic, both artistic and executive leadership successions, a successful return to international touring, the expansion of youth and community programs, and the launch of new artistic initiatives.

“We are delighted to welcome Alan as our new Board President,” said Leela Breithaupt, Executive Director of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem. “His leadership, legal expertise, and deep passion for the arts make him an invaluable steward to strengthen and expand our organization. I’m excited to collaborate with him as we build on our legacy and look toward an inspiring future.”
