It was a tad bit breezy today as Emmaus, Pennsylvania had a lot going on in preparation for St. Patrick’s Day. Parades around the Lehigh Valley, folks dressed in green, and ready for any excuse to celebrate. Meanwhile… The Emmaus Theatre was prepping for Sir. Alfred Hitchcock Day. The iconic filmmaker forever recognized for his macabre sense of humor on shows like, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and films including: THE BIRDS, FRENZY, TORN CURTAIN, VERTIGO, NORTH BY NORTHWEST, and so many more… You could probably have an Alfred Hitchcock month if you genuinely wanted to do so.
The Emmaus Theatre had a special screening of his 1960 film, PSYCHO starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh. Anthony Perkins delivers a perfect performance as Norman Bates, and Janet Leigh as Marion Crane. It was quite amazing to see PSYCHO on the big screen. The nostalgic momentum that THE Emmaus Theatre holds allows it play new films, and take us back in time. They also played THE LOST BOYS for three days.
National Alfred Hitchcock Day was celebrated all over, and even social media took time to share various Hitchcock films, and people took the time to talk about the history of his films, directing, producing, and creating a lasting legacy. His work is still influential, and filmmakers claim his work inspires them in one or another. It was a great day to see the variety of events happening in Emmaus, and as always how great the people are.
