Lehigh Valley, PA WDIY 88.1 FM and Miller-Keystone Blood Center have partnered to launch Power of a Pint: Local Voices. Lifesaving Choices., a community initiative encouraging residents to donate blood while supporting local public media.

Throughout the month of March, community members can donate blood at any Miller-Keystone Blood Center donor location. Each successful donation will help save lives in the region and trigger an additional $50 donation to WDIY from a generous anonymous supporter, amplifying the impact of every donor.

The campaign reflects a shared mission between the two organizations: strengthening the community through service, connection, and lifesaving action.

“WDIY has always been about giving voice to the community,” said Margaret McConnell, Executive Director of WDIY. “With Power of a Pint, we’re turning those local voices into lifesaving action. By rolling up your sleeve to donate blood, you’re not only helping patients in local hospitals—you’re also supporting independent public media that keeps our community informed and connected.”

Miller-Keystone Blood Center, which supplies blood products to hospitals throughout eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, emphasizes that community participation is essential to maintaining a safe and reliable blood supply. The organization serves major hospital networks across the region, making local blood donations critical for patient care.

“Every blood donation can help save multiple lives,” said Monika Kotlarska-Gross, Director, Donor Relations of Miller-Keystone Blood Center. “Our partnership with WDIY highlights how local organizations can work together to make a real difference. Donating blood is one of the simplest and most powerful ways people can help their neighbors in need.”

Donors participating in the campaign should include Group ID #8969 when scheduling their appointment to ensure their donation is counted as part of the Power of a Pint initiative. Donations can be made throughout March at any of MKBC’s donor centers in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Reading, Pittston, Ewing, and Hamilton Street in Allentown.

Appointments are encouraged, though walk-ins may be accepted based on availability.

Community members can learn more or schedule a donation by visiting: Power of a Pint: Local Voices. Lifesaving Choices.

Together, WDIY and Miller-Keystone Blood Center invite the community to take part in this simple act that delivers a powerful impact: donate blood, save lives, and strengthen the voices that make the Lehigh Valley community thrive.
