HARRISBURG – Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Berks) issued the following statement in reaction to Gov. Tom Wolf’s 2021-22 budget proposal, which seeks to raise taxes and increase spending:

“During these difficult times that our state is facing, I continue to support a timely balanced budget and no new taxes. The governor’s budget proposal to raise taxes on individuals and small businesses is out of touch.

“We should be looking to cut wasteful spending, instead of an increase on people’s taxes. We must have a continued focus on dealing with health care issues relating to the pandemic, reopening schools safely and responsibly getting our economy moving again.

“This is only the beginning of the budget process. When the hearings are done, the General Assembly will work with the governor to achieve a final balanced budget that protects taxpayers, reins in unnecessary and excessive spending, and educates our children. I look forward to working with all stakeholders involved in the process and making sure that all Pennsylvanians are protected.”
