EASTON GARLIC FEST BRINGS GARLIC LOVERS BACK TO CENTRE SQUARE FOR THE STINKIEST FESTIVAL OF 2021

EASTON, PA – September 27, 2021 – After the pandemic forced it to switch to a virtual event in 2020, the stinkiest festival on the East Coast is back at it stinking up Easton’s Centre Square for the 18th Annual Easton Garlic Fest.

A family-friendly event, it is free to attend on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3 from 10 am – 6 pm both days, rain or shine. This year’s Headline Chef is Abe Lopez, Executive Chef of Stoke Coal Fire Pizza and Colonial Pizza & Spaghetti House in Easton. Highlights include:

  • More than 95 vendors, including merchandise and crafters, prepared foods, packaged foods, garlic vendors, and service providers. See the full vendor list here: https://eastongarlicfest.com/2021-vendors/
  • 3 Mayors Cook-off (Saturday at 1 pm at the Stinkin’ Culinary Stage) – Easton Mayor Sal Panto will partner with Easton Garlic Fest Headline Abe Lopez of Stoke to take on Hellertown Mayor David Heintzelman with Bobbie Gianguzzi of Brooklyn’s Catering, and Phillipsburg Mayor Todd Tersigni with Chef Sal LaDuca of LaBella Via.
  • Mystery Basket Cook-off – (Saturday at 3 pm at the Stinkin’ Culinary Stage) – EGF Headline Chef Abe Lopez will go up against Executive Chef Steven Lenhoff of Maxim’s 22. Each chef will receive an identical mystery basket filled with fresh, local ingredients chosen by Easton Farmers’ Market Manager Megan McBride. They will have 30 minutes to create a garlicky meal using only those ingredients in this judged competition.
  • Hometown Heroes Cook-off (Sunday at 1 pm at the Stinkin’ Culinary Stage) – City of Easton Police vs. City of Easton Fire Dept. vs. Easton Emergency Squad compete in this judged competition
  • Iron Chef Cook-off (Sunday at 3 pm at the Stinkin’ Culinary Stage) – Executive Chef Cristian Gonzalez of The Shelby will compete against Chef/Owner Esteban Morales of Morales Catering.
  • Two stages of free live music (both days) – The Sizzlin’ HOT Latin Music Stage at Northampton & 2nd Streets, and the Stinkin’ Beer Tent Stage at 3rd & Ferry Streets. For the complete schedule of bands visit: https://eastongarlicfest.com/live-music/
  • Sizzlin’ HOT Latin Quarter (both days) – Located on Northampton Street between 2nd and 3rd Featuring Hispanic and Latino food vendors, DJ Nino, Colombian musician and singer Omaira, and more.
  • Big Stinkin’ Wheel of Cheese Booth (both days) – $10 – It starts with a wheel of Reggiano Parmesan cheese which chefs light on fire and roll pasta and garlic in the melted cheese. Cheese wheel and pasta are provided by sponsor Vicidomini USA.
  • Gastric Garlic People’s Choice Contest – $10 (tickets at the door only)
    • Noon – 2:30 pm on Saturday; located in the Pungent Plaza
    • 400 people will sample and judge the best garlic dish created by chefs from local restaurants. Participants determine which chef will take home the coveted garlic bulb winner’s plaque.
  • Dangerous Desserts People’s Choice Contest – $10 (tickets at the door only)
    • Noon – 2:30 pm on Sunday; located in the Pungent Plaza
    • Be one of 200 people to sample and judge the best garlic dessert created by chefs from local restaurants. Participants determine which chef creates the best dish.
  • Beer Tent sponsored by The Alfero Company and hosted by 3rd & Ferry Fish Market – featuring a selection of beer and also roasted garlic Bloody Mary, seltzers, and sangria options.
  • Little Stinkers Row at N. 3rd & Church Streets – pony rides, moon bounce, face painter, and other fee-based activities. At 11 am both days, kids can sign up for a chance to participate in the Culinary Kids Cooking Contest, which starts at 2 pm. Five names are selected to compete.
