January 29, 2016 (Allentown, PA) The Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, Inc. announced today the details regarding the 14th Annual Fundraising Event to be held at Christopher’s at the Columbian Home on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 3 pm to 6 pm.  The 2016 Parade theme of “All Are Invited” is a welcome to all in the Lehigh Valley to attend the Fundraiser and all the Parade events leading up to the main event on March 20, 2016 throughout Allentown’s West End.  Christopher’s at the Columbian Home is located at 1519 Greenleaf Street, Allentown, PA.  Proceeds will benefit the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade.

The 14th Annual Parade Fundraising event will feature the formal introduction of the 2016 King and Queen of the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade, Angela and Steve Faidley.  The Faidleys are originally from Vestal, New York and moved to the Lehigh Valley in 1986.  Married 35 years, Angela is the owner of Out of Our Minds Art Studio in Macungie and has served on the Parade Committee for the last 5 years. Steve works for Wells Fargo as a Systems Support Consultant / IT.  Their Parade ties go back to 1998 when they attended their first Coronation Ball and have had a float in the Parade since 2002.

In addition to the King and Queen introduction, Angela, Poster Contest Chair and John Chaya, President of the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, Inc., will announce the 2016 Poster Contest winners.  The Poster contest was open to all children in grades 1st through 8th throughout the Allentown Diocese as well as public school students in the Lehigh Valley.

Christopher’s at the Columbian Home will host the fundraising event from 3 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, February 21, 2016.  Doors are open to the public and tickets are $10 per person in advance and $12 at the door.  Children under 12 are free.  Tickets include select beers and soda with admission and door prizes.  Tickets can be purchased in advance by going to www.allentownstpatricksparade.com, calling 610.443.0429, or emailing stpatstickets@aol.com.  Tickets will also be available at the door.  Music by DJ John Harvey, raffles and the purchase of shamrocks for a $1 will also be a part of the event’s activities.  All guests are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley.  Ticket and raffle proceeds will benefit the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade.

The Fundraising event is the kick off for all the 2016 Parade festivities, with the next event following on March 12, the annual West End Pub Crawl featuring eight sponsoring pubs, followed by the Coronation of the 2016 King and Queen, Steve and Angela Faidley on March 18 and the Irish Cultural Community Day being held March 19 at the Allentown Fairgrounds.

About the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade

The first known St. Patrick’s Parade was held in Allentown in the late 1860’s.  Over a century later, in 1955, what we know as the modern day Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade was organized by business and political leaders through the St. Patrick’s Day Observance Society.  The Parade ran from 12th and Hamilton Streets to the Immaculate Conception Church on Ridge Avenue.  The Parade will celebrate its 59th Anniversary on March 20, 2016 departing from the Allentown Fairgrounds at 2:00 pm.  For more information or to participate in the 2016 Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade go to www.allentownstpatricksparade.com.  Registration to participate in the 2016 Parade is open and can be done by completing the online registration form at www.allentownstpatricksparade.com through February 15, 2016.  The Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade reserves the right to approve all registration submissions.
