BETHLEHEM, PA – President of Northampton Community College (NCC), Dr. David A. Ruth, helped hand out lunch to students at Cheston Elementary School at a National Pizza Day event, February 9. The event brought together leaders from a variety of professions who spent the day engaging with and serving students.

Easton Area School Police Officer, Stephen Schleig, created S.T.O.R.M. (A Special Team of Role Models) as a way for security and police staff to come together, share knowledge and help to inspire students around them. At this event, other leaders from the community joined S.T.O.R.M. and talked with students at the school about their roles and experiences.

“It was a pleasure to spend time with the kids. I enjoyed answering their questions about what I do at the College and what being a President means to me,” Dr. Ruth commented.

Some local and national superstars came out for the event including racecar driver, Mario Andretti, U.S.A. men’s lacrosse Olympian, Michael Sisselberger, and Netflix cast member on “Raising Dion,” Ja’Siah Young, to name a few.

“The highlight of the day was the generational connection between the leaders and the students, sharing in laughter and smiles. Events like these serve as reminders to all that when you invest in the youth of today, you invest in the future. When you are a leader, you lead by example,” says Schleig.
