Wildlands Conservancy:  You & Me at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary: Habitat Heroes 9:30 am – 11:00 am at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, PA.  “You & Me” is a program designed for children aged 3-5 and their grown-ups. This month: Meet some native wildlife and earn the title of habitat hero and receive your own wildlife warrior badge. Wildlands Conservancy: Wild in the Parks! Outdoor Survival 101 at 11:00 am – 12:30 pm at Keck Park, 698 South Carlisle Street, Allentown, PA. Develop and hone your survival skills, while spending time in local wilderness. This basic survival program is designed to teach you the introductory skills needed to survive in the great outdoors. All ages welcome.  There is no charge for this event but preregistration is required. Wildlands Conservancy: Felted Birdhouses with Artist Mallory Zondag 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, PA.   Learn the ancient and awesome art of wet felting during this 4 hour adult workshop. Using wool, hot water, soap and the power of your own body you will learn how to transform wool into a cozy bird house! Instructor is Mallory Zondag Mixed Media Fiber artist and artist educator. Wildlands Conservancy: Get Out! for Wellness: Brenner-Penfield Macungie Mountain Preserve & Reimert Bird Sanctuary 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm; meet at Reimert Bird Sanctuary, 6680 Mountain Road, Macungie, PA.  Merrill Brenner will lead this hike, with a focus on history, including about the Reimerts, charcoaling, the iron industry, the early human inhabitants, and local historical figures, as well as the local geology, nature, and wildlife. Hike is appropriate for all ages and dogs on leash are welcome. Event is free, but please register on line. PreK pathfinders is a series of programs for 3-5 year olds and their adults. This month: Observe live birds inside and up close before venturing outside to spy on their wild, feathered friends. Discover groundcovers, spring flowers, invasive species, and trees that are edible. We’ll enjoy some wild tea and dip post-walk. Wildlands Conservancy: Get Out! for Wellness: Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, 1635 River Road, New Hope, PA.  The Preserve is next to the 125-foot-tall Bowman’s Tower, which was built 1929-31 to commemorate George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware. This excursion is appropriate for all ages; no pets allowed. There is no charge, but please register. Wildlands Conservancy:  Get Out for Wellness: Raymondskill Creek 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Cliff Park Trailhead, 1978 18324 River Rd., Milford, PA. We’ll follow a 4.2 mile series of loops, beginning on Buchanan Trail and working our way west to Raymondskill Falls, then back via Cliff Trail. We will see forest, falls, and overlooks of the Delaware River. Tails are a combination of an old road that passes through the forest and rocky, uneven ground. Wildlands Conservancy:  Bike & Boat Adventures: Canoe on Long Pond  12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Long Pond, Long Pond, PA. We will send the meet-up location to registrants. We’ll provide the canoes, paddles and personal floatation devices (pfd’s) for this chance in a lifetime opportunity to explore this unique habitat. Long Pond is one of Audubon Society’s Important Bird Areas of Pennsylvania.  There is a fee; preregistration is required. Wildlands Conservancy: Get Out for Wellness: D&L Trail: Weissport to Jim Thorpe 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the D&L Weissport Trailhead, 46 Canal St., Lehighton, PA.  Bordered on one side by the canal and by a whitewater section of the Lehigh on the other, this trail is 3.5 miles each way; it is level, easy walking. Two environmental educators will be on this hike to provide two walking options: (1) walk to Jim Thorpe and grab coffee or a late lunch and return to Weissport or (2) walk a shorter distance and return to Weissport.
