Free, family-friendly events at the Moravian Historical Society for Passport to History Month—Saturday and Sunday, July 22 & 23.



Nazareth, PA – The Moravian Historical Society is pleased to announce its participation in the Lehigh Valley Passport to History Month—a month-long celebration of the sites, stories, and community that bring Lehigh Valley history to life. Throughout July 2023, local historic and cultural sites open their doors with free admission, tours, and activities for explorers of all ages.

The Moravian Historical Society will participate in Passport to History on Saturday, July 22, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Sunday, July 23, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Offerings will include:

  • Free admission, including to our special exhibition on early American music
  • Free Museum Tours
  • An antique book sale

Visitors can learn about the significant contributions Moravians made to American music, art, education, and culture on a guided Museum Tour. Guests can also view the special exhibition, “Heartstrings: John Antes, America’s First Luthier,” to learn about the early American practice of making string instruments and about the legacy of this trade in the Lehigh Valley. The exhibition features the earliest surviving family of American stringed instruments on display.

The Moravian Historical Society is open daily from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and is located at 214 East Center Street, Nazareth, Pennsylvania. The historic site includes two 18th century buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
