Bethlehem, PA – Service Electric Cable TV & Communications, a trailblazing internet and cable TV provider, has once again created a unique product certain to spur the interest of Lehigh Valley sports and entertainment fans. On the opening day of Musikfest, Service Electric announced the release of SE STREAM, a multi-platform entertainment service offering unique, local content from the Service Electric Network (SEN), which features high school and collegiate sports, IronPigs baseball, Phantoms hockey, Musikfest concerts, parades, festivals plus 18 original shows.

SE STREAM includes multiple viewing options. The app can be downloaded to a streaming device like a smart TV, tablet or phone, and it also serves as the interface on a set-top box, developed in partnership with TiVo. This small, 4-inch square box uses the HDMI input to the television and gets its signal wirelessly, so it can be placed anywhere in the house where WiFi is available!

“This is a huge step forward for us,” remarked Chris Kelly, manager of engineering and customer products at Service Electric.  “Being able to combine SEN’s one-of-a-kind content with the convenience of multi-platform streaming and cloud DVR storage opens the door to allow us to offer a viewing experience that literally nobody else can. Our partnership with TiVo has been integral in developing SE STREAM to be a flexible and reliable option for our customers.”

Lehigh Valley residents who are not Service Electric cable or internet customers will now have the opportunity to download the app and see more than 225 local high school and collegiate games throughout the school year, plus have access to IronPigs and Phantoms home games and more than 200 hours of Musikfest content each year.

“While live content from SEN will be available initially, our plan is to release more than 40 years of local sports and events using a video-on-demand format within the SE STREAM platform,” said Kristi Fulkerson, operations manager at SEN. “The possibilities are far-reaching for this app, since it can deliver content to anyone with an Internet connection.”

For now, SE STREAM will be rolled out within Service Electric’s Lehigh Valley and New Jersey service areas, but eventually certain components of SE STREAM will be available for wide distribution.

The current options for SE STREAM are as follows:

  • SE STREAM with SEN Only– A downloadable app for Greater Lehigh Valley residents with Internet from any provider, or Service Electric Internet customers without cable, interested in the SEN local programming.
  • SE STREAM with Cable TV– A downloadable app for Service Electric cable subscribers interested in using their WiFi device to extend cable TV service to an area where a physical cable is not available. Includes cloud DVR storage.
  • “Next Generation” TiVo with SE STREAM– A hardware solution including a 4” WiFi box for any Service Electric customer interested in cloud DVR storage and the ability to easily extend the number of TVs in their house where the downloadable app is not an option.

Special offers will be available for Musikfest attendees at the Service Electric tent near the Festplatz stage.  For more information on SE STREAM or to set up interviews, please contact Jim Macdonald, marketing manager at Service Electric using the contact information in the header or visit sectv.com/sestream.
