Trinity Northside Drop-In Center will now operate out of Christ Church UCC in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (September 5, 2023) – New Bethany, a local nonprofit, announced today its Northside services have moved to a new location at Christ Church UCC in Bethlehem.

The new Trinity Northside Drop-In Center, previously known as Trinity Episcopal Soup Kitchen, continues New Bethany’s work to build a community of support for people experiencing poverty, hunger, and homelessness.

“A few years ago, Trinity Soup Kitchen’s largest funding source ended due to the closing of its primary philanthropic benefactor. At that time, Trinity Church sought out New Bethany as a potential partner to keep the Kitchen serving its guests on the north side of Bethlehem,” said the Rev. Dr. Pamela Payne, Trinity Episcopal Church. “New Bethany’s vision of a northside center coalesced with Trinity’s need to address some long-term building issues, so the movement of the Trinity Kitchen to another location serves both long-term goals very well. Trinity Episcopal Church is delighted to remain connected to the Kitchen and grateful for the vision of New Bethany.”

Christ Church UCC is a service-oriented congregation that offers many other social services, including a bagged delivery lunch program and emergency overnight shelter in winter, both operated by Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering, and clothes and toiletry distribution operated by S.T.A.R. Bethlehem. With this move, guests of the Trinity Northside Drop-In Center benefit from the convenience of all of the programs offered at this location.

“It’s our mission at New Bethany to serve the entire population of Bethlehem and Lehigh Valley at large, and the new drop-in center allows us to provide the same life-changing assistance to residents in the Northside as we’ve been in the Southside,” said New Bethany’s Associate Executive Director Veronne Demesyeux, LMSW.

Trinity Northside Drop-In Center offers the same resources and follows the same schedule at this new location, providing hot takeout lunches daily from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
