Patrol Officers: Learn the Basics of Latent Fingerprint Processing at NCC

BETHLEHEM, PA – Northampton Community College’s (NCC) Center for Business & Industry (CBI) is offering a “Basic Latent Print Processing for Patrol” course on Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Northeast Forensic Training Center in NCC’s Fowler Family Southside Center. The course covers theory and practices in the “Basics” of Latent Print Processing that would normally be encountered by a patrol officer or an investigator starting out. Upon the completion of the course, students will be able to relate the application of the “Basic” procedures and responsibilities of processing for Latent Prints.

Students will learn the definitions and characteristics of fingerprints, best method to develop latent prints on different surfaces, basic equipment utilized by the patrol officer, proper methods to document prints, collection and preservation of developed latent prints and more. This course has been approved for eight (8) hours of continuing education by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC).
