YWCA Bethlehem to Host Inaugural Courageous Healing Luncheon Featuring Kimberly Brazwell and Bethlehem Community Leaders



Bethlehem, PA – October 10, 2023 – YWCA Bethlehem will host its inaugural Courageous Healing Luncheon on October 25, 2023, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Ben Franklin TechVentures at 116 Research Drive in Bethlehem. The unique event will focus on intergenerational trauma and healing, provide networking and meaningful connections, honor remarkable community members, and raise funds for the critical programs and services that YWCA Bethlehem provides. The Courageous Healing Luncheon will feature a captivating keynote address from Kimberly Brazwell, CEO and founder of KiMISTRY. Brazwell is an esteemed expert in intergenerational trauma, justice, and holistic wellness, specializing in the unique intersection of these fields.

In addition to the thought-provoking keynote address, YWCA Bethlehem will honor individuals and organizations that have made a substantial impact in Bethlehem’s community. The following esteemed honorees will receive awards during the luncheon:

Ally Award: Valley Health Partners Street Medicine

Valley Health Partners Street Medicine delivers primary and urgent healthcare to persons experiencing homelessness in the Lehigh Valley. Their holistic patient-led approach not only ensures high-quality healthcare but also addresses the barriers to accessing these services. By providing care in various locations such as homeless shelters, soup kitchens, streets, bridges, and woods, Valley Health Partners Street Medicine aims to make healthcare accessible to all.

Bridge Builder Award: Anna Smith

Anna Smith, a native of south Bethlehem, has been a tireless advocate for neighborhood-driven, asset- based community development and housing justice. Her impactful work as the director of Community Action Development Bethlehem (CADB) from 2016 to the present, and her prior experiences with Community Action Lehigh Valley, have significantly contributed to empowering communities and fostering positive change.

Change Maker Award: Martha Ortiz

Martha Ortiz, Executive Director of Lynfield Community Center, has dedicated herself to actively serving the community. Her involvement with various organizations, such as Second Harvest Food Bank and the Bethlehem Housing Authority, exemplifies her commitment to improving the lives of others. Ortiz’s leadership in managing the 4-H program at the Lynfield Community Center and her volunteer work with the Southside Baseball League have positively impacted the lives of countless individuals.
