Northampton County calls on Astound Business Solutions and Service Electric Cable TV & Communications to apply for the federal government’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program.
County Executive Lamont G. McClure sent a letter to both Internet Service Providers (ISP) urging them to take the opportunity to apply for the more than $1.16 billion in funding available to Pennsylvania. The BEAD program will expand broadband access to unserved and underserved areas that have no internet or access that fails to meet federal guidelines.
“The internet has woven its way into our lives and businesses. Access to reliable bandwidth is critical to improving the economy and is an essential way to strengthen the Middle Class and help others make it into the Middle Class,” said Executive Lamont McClure. “Northampton County is not looking to build infrastructure or become an ISP; however, we believe our current providers are best suited and positioned to apply, and we look forward to helping them leverage this funding opportunity to improve the broadband services in the county.”
