Women of the Lehigh Valley Hammer for Homes, Communities, and Hope

Morris J. Dimmick Park – Hellertown, PA | Girl power is no longer some fleeing fad – female empowerment is here to stay, and its momentum only continues to gather speed. Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley believes in strong women building strong communities – it supports women as homeowners, as philanthropists, and as skilled workers in the fields of real estate, construction, design, drafting, and contracting.

On Monday, May 5th, 2025, Habitat Lehigh Valley will host its award-winning, annual She Nailed It! Tailgate and Competition – an all female, nail-hammering relay fundraising event – at Morris J. Dimmick Park in Hellertown, PA in order to support its homeownership and critical home repair programs. In its 14th year since inception, SNI brings women together from all over the Lehigh Valley to compete in teams of four to see which team hammers a nail flush into a board the fastest. The event has grown exponentially over the years, and now 70 teams are competing to win the coveted hammer trophy in an outdoor competition that includes best tailgate awards, drinks provided by Lost Tavern Hellertown and Franklin Hill Vineyards, multiple food trucks catering to all tastes, raffles, silent auctions, a 50/50 drawing, a hammer pull for wine and spirits prizes, and Habitat Lehigh Valley merchandise sales. All funds raised from SNI 2025 directly support Habitat Lehigh Valley’s programs for local, low to moderate income, hardworking families in need of affordable housing solutions.

Honing their hammering and construction skills, these women are dedicated to the mission of Habitat Lehigh Valley and building a world where everyone deserves a decent place to live. They are stay-at-home mothers, lawyers, teachers, investment consultants, builders, frontline workers, bankers, CEOs, business owners, engineers, brewers, and so much more…they are female, and they are building strength, stability, and

self-reliance through shelter. These competitors are making sure women have a path to successful homeownership when the affordable housing crisis too often disproportionately and inequitably affects single mothers, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, Veterans, and people of color.

In 2020 and 2021 alone, over 80% of new Habitat Lehigh Valley homeowners were single mothers. Habitat Lehigh Valley is dedicated to making sure that everyone can provide for their families and tackle whatever challenges may come their way along with homeownership: establishing and maintaining a budget, investing in

education and health care, and home repair and maintenance. These skills are crucial to a successful future and without them, too many people have encountered roadblocks that prevent them from building dreams. Events like She Nailed It! say “no more” and raise awareness and critical financial support for programs that provide Habitat Lehigh Valley homeowners with the confidence and tools they need to tackle whatever life may throw at them. Together, women can achieve anything, and Habitat Lehigh Valley ensures that empowered women empower women.

Habitat Lehigh Valley looks forward to welcoming everyone to Dimmick Park on May 5th – the event is free and open to the public, and the support of the local community only helps them move their mission forward. All are welcome to participate in the raffles, silent auction, merchandise sales, and cheering on their favorite team in the hammering competition! Come and enjoy food truck tasty eats from around the Lehigh Valley and beverages from Lost Tavern Hellertown and Franklin Hill Vineyards.
