Edge Cycling & Team Arnav Present:
Jamie Alvord’s 1 KM Record Attempt to Raise Awareness About Pediatric Osteosarcoma
A Race for the Record. A Ride for a Cause.
Breinigsville, PA – May 28, 2025 — On Friday, July 18, 2025, under the lights at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (thevelodrome.com), cycling fans will witness more than just an elite-level race—they’ll experience a powerful tribute of strength, heart, and hope.
Jamie Alvord, Senior Member of the Edge Cycling Elite Men’s Team, will attempt to break the Flying Kilo track record during the Corporate Challenge. The current record—1:01.4—was set in 2005 by Travis Smith of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Jamie’s goal: to not only eclipse that time, but to do it in honor of a close friend and former teammate whose legacy continues to inspire.
This effort is dedicated to Arnav Krishna, a nationally recognized junior cyclist whose promising career was tragically cut short by pediatric osteosarcoma, the most common bone cancer in children and young adults.
Jamie Alvord said of Arnav, “Dhruv and Arnav joined Edge Cycling with strong morals and ethics, quickly embracing our core values and leading with positivity. The twins were both nurturing and fiercely competitive—with each other and within the team. We watched Arnav live out the values he learned through Edge, especially relentless effort and positivity, throughout his fight with osteosarcoma. When he returned to the track, we believed he had beaten cancer. His final race was the standing kilo at Junior Track Nationals. Arnav’s determination, courage, and unwavering optimism continue to inspire me every day. This record attempt is my way of honoring him.”

This event will benefit Team Arnav Foundation, established by Arnav’s brother Dhruv Krishna with the support of family and friends. The foundation is dedicated to funding research for pediatric osteosarcoma, a devastating and understudied cancer that often strikes without warning and carries harsh treatment outcomes.
“We don’t know enough about osteosarcoma—and that’s what we’re trying to change,” said Dhruv Krishna, founder of Team Arnav. “Arnav should have had more options, more clarity, and more hope. Through this event, we’re raising money to support research that will help the next family facing this diagnosis. We’re incredibly grateful to Jamie and Edge Cycling for making this night so meaningful.”
Arnav’s battle with osteosarcoma began with a tumor in his tibia. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, limb salvage surgery, and dealing with severe side effects like hearing loss, Arnav remained fiercely optimistic. He inspired everyone around him with his determination, and now his legacy drives the mission to find better treatments, faster diagnoses, and more hopeful outcomes.
