From crew member to community leader, Bob Malick — lovingly nicknamed “Burger King Bob” — has built his career around patience, respect, and dedication. His Guests know him as a familiar face who makes them feel like family, and his team knows he’s the kind of leader who shows up for them, both on and off the clock.
Bob began his career at Burger King about 40 years ago at just 15 years old as a crew member working the broiler. He was quickly promoted to a shift manager, assistant manager and then general manager by the time he was 22 years old as he exceled at everything he did, every step of the way. Bob leads with confidence, which has trickled down to his team and has resulted in an exceptional Burger King experience for Guests.
Bob’s leadership has also fueled remarkable business success. Over the past three years, his restaurant has delivered consistent double-digit growth, with sales climbing more than 40 percent since 2022. Bob and his team continue to outdo themselves year after year, with his same-store sales growth and traffic increasing by 15 and 13 percent in the past 12 months. These results stem not just from strong operations, but from the culture he has built — one rooted in the C.A.R.E. values: Care, Appreciate, Respect, Everyone. By taking the time to connect with his team members and fellow managers, as well as teaching patience, encouraging teamwork, and leading with respect, Bob has created an environment where employees thrive and Guests keep coming back.
What truly sets Bob apart is his deep commitment to his community. Beyond his restaurant, Bob is recognized throughout his community as a leader and trusted neighbor. He’s never afraid to pivot as needed in order to put his community first, such as extending the restaurant’s hours and more to meet Guests where they are at. Additionally, he actively engages with local residents and encourages his team to do the same, ensuring Burger King remains a place where everyone feels valued.
Bob truly believes that treating people with respect and “please and thank yous” is the recipe for success. He sets the standard everyday in creating loyal Guests – ones that come in for coffee in the morning every single day, then come back for lunch – and team members with the culture and community he has built through his extraordinary leadership.
