STORIES IN PINK: CORINNE’S NEW SONGBOOK OF JAZZY POP
A romantic collection where every song sounds like a standard you’ve never heard before.
Stories in Pink, the new album from era-bending vocalist Corinne, isn’t traditional jazz or standard pop. It’s a postmodern mid-century romantic revival — a nine-track collection where songs feel like timeless standards you’ve never heard before.
Laufey-adjacent, but edgier, Corinne bridges the worlds of jazz and pop for a new generation. But where Laufey leans lush and innocent, Corinne takes a bolder path. Her sound draws on the sultry elegance of Sade, the cinematic drama of Shirley Bassey, and the raw edge of Amy Winehouse — all refracted through a 1962 lens of Parisian torch songs and Brazilian bossa nova.
Stories in Pink is a showcase of moods: deconstructed bossa grooves (“Scrambled Eggs for Two”), swampy French Quarter romance (“Fa La La”), a lush, orchestrated 6/8 swinger (“Once Upon a Time in Central Park”), and a waltz that feels like lost Mancini magic (“I Taste Forever in Your Kiss”). The record closes with a cinematic take on “La Vie en Rose,” sealing its mid-century aura.
Recorded with an ensemble of top-tier players, produced by Eric Todd, and mastered by Grammy-winner Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound, the album balances sophistication and accessibility — edgy enough to intrigue jazz fans, yet intimate enough to resonate with pop audiences. It is, as All About Jazz declared about Corinne of her past traditional releases, “sheer genius.”
“I wanted to create an album that felt timeless, like you could drop the needle in 1962 or 2025, and it would still feel alive,” says Corinne. “These songs are romantic, cinematic, and honest. They live outside of trends, but they’re for today’s listeners.”
Corinne has earned industry validation with invitations to perform at New York’s elite Casa Cipriani, following recent standout performances with American Idol’s Casey Abrams at City Wineries. She is poised to bring Stories in Pink to wider audiences in 2025 and beyond.
