2016 Halloween Writing Contest Wrap Up

The results are in from our first Halloween writing contest. Before discussing the contest results we want to thank everyone who entered the contest and everyone who voted for our contestants as well.

As the contest got under way there were three clear favorites. A few of the contestants are writers who have been published in the past. We were excited to find out that one of our front running contestants is a student from Lower Macungie Middle School. Danny Merk’s story “The Somme” came in second place over all. For his efforts in competing with published writers we are adding a Second-Place prize to the competition. Next year we will add a second category to the competition just for younger writers.

We are taking all the stories from the contest and putting them in a collection which will be printed in the near future. Copies of the book will be available for sale at Let’s Play Books in Emmaus. Copies will also be donated to some of the area’s local libraries. All contestants will also receive a copy of the collection. All proceeds from the sale of our collection of stories will be donated to The Literacy Center of Allentown.

Here are the results from our Halloween Writing Contest:

1.       THE GREEN STREET DEMON BY: JANEL SPIEGEL

2.       The Somme – By Danny Merk

3.       Beyond the Pale – by Dustin Lee Yenser
