Rotary Club of Bethlehem donates $35,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank

BETHLEHEM, PA – On Wednesday, November 2, 2016, the Rotary Club of Bethlehem presented a donation of $35,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley & Northeast Pennsylvania. The donation was made possible through the Club’s Fourth Annual “Tastes & Tunes” event, which was held on Sunday, October 2 at Historic Hotel Bethlehem. On hand for the check presentation were Tony Muir, honorary co-chair for the event, and Breanna McGonagle, who represented Second Harvest on the Taste & Tunes Committee.

“The mission of Second Harvest aligns perfectly with the goals and purpose of Rotary. Although Rotary is an international service organization, the work of our Club begins here in our own community,” said Rotary President Gail Evans. “The donation will help Second Harvest purchase a refrigerated truck to enhance the work they do every day to relieve hunger in our community.”

Guests at Tastes & Tunes mingled and sampled cuisine from the menus of Emeril’s Chop House, Twisted Olive, The Goose, Historic Hotel Bethlehem, Silver Creek Country Club, Catering by Karen Hunter, The Dime, Centro, Sodexo at Moravian College, and Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School (BAVTS). Entertainment was provided by DJ Freddie Frederick Jr., and the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts.

Tastes & Tunes was made possible through the generous support of Just Born; Albarell Electric, Inc.; BB&T; Hank and Joanne Barnett; First Northern Bank; HMK Insurance; Moravian College; Mosebach, Funt, Dayton, and Duckwork, PC.; PNC Bank; Scott Cars, St. Luke’s University Health Network; QNB Bank; UGI; and West Side Hammer Electric; and Tony and JoJo Muir.
