PBS39 to Re-broadcast Original Cancer Survivorship Documentary ‘Close to Home’



 

Airdates set for Tues., Apr. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Tues., Apr. 18 at 11:30 p.m.

 

Bethlehem, Pa. — Mar. 16, 2017 PBS39 is excited to announce the re-broadcast of Close to Home: Cancer Survivorship, an original production exploring the many emotions and trials of those battling the disease.

 

Close to Home: Cancer Survivorship, produced in conjunction with Lehigh Valley Health Network oncologist Dr. Rick Boulay and the Catherine Boulay Foundation, follows physicians and their patients through their cancer battles, exploring themes of fear, hope, faith, journey, advocacy, and caregiving. The program will will re-broadcast exclusively on PBS39 on Tues., April 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Tues., April 18 at 11:30 p.m.

 

“With Close to Home: Cancer Survivorship, PBS39 is honored to partner with Lehigh Valley Health Network and Dr. Rick Boulay to share intimate stories of local cancer survivors,” said Teri Haddad, EdD, SVP of Education and Production. “These individuals and their families have inspired us with their candor and wisdom to provide comfort to those on the journey through cancer.”

 

Dr. Boulay, a Lehigh Valley Health Network oncologist and founder of the Catherine Boulay Foundation, narrates Close to Home: Cancer Survivorship, and teamed with Dr. Dan Foster to compose thematic music to accompany the production.

 

Dr. Boulay finds his inspiration as the son, grandson, and husband of cancer survivors.

 

“It is incredibly fulfilling to capture, so beautifully, the authenticity of cancer survivorship,” Dr. Boulay said. “I truly believe that the narratives and songs of Close to Home: Cancer Survivorship will profoundly resonate with those touched by cancer.”
