The program is complemented by two special events in November. Following Close to Home: Changed by War, PBS39 presents The War Is Still With Us: A FOCUS Special Report, which shares personal stories from Lehigh Valley residents and Vietnam-era veterans. In partnership with Lehigh University’s Africana Studies Program, PBS39 has also engaged multi-disciplinary students to produce content and conduct interviews with veterans, subject-matter experts, and leaders of the local anti-war movement.

“The Close to Home series was developed to provide information and hope to people who are struggling,” said Dr. Haddad, Close to Home executive producer. “Close to Home: Changed by War shares stories of Vietnam Veterans who suffered from PTSD.  At PBS39 we are grateful to share stories like these aimed to educate and inspire our viewers.”

Close to Home programming is part of PBS39 Check-Up, a PBS39 healthcare initiative sponsored by Capital BlueCross.  The Close to Home series is made possible through support from Air Products and Lehigh Valley Health Network.
