ALLENTOWN RESCUE MISSION has a volunteer opportunity for those who want to help but can’t get out of their house.  They are looking for volunteers to become part of their new call center by working from your home.  Help make calls based on their current needs.  Make Special Event follow up calls for Auction items, RSVP’s for invitations, and thank you calls as needed.  Call Deirdre Federico, 610-740-5500 x322, dfederico@armpa.org.

 

ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION needs volunteers to read to kindergartners in classrooms in 14 schools across the city.  A training session is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6, from 2-3pm at Jackson Elementary Childhood Center, 517 N. 15th St, Allentown.  Park on street or in shopping center rows near the school.  Background clearances needed.   Call Vicki Newhard, 484-765-4121, newhardv@allentownsd.org.

 

CEDARBROOK NURSING HOME, Allentown has a fun opportunity for volunteers to help their residents play games on Tuesdays from 6:15-8:15pm.  A regularly scheduled game night takes place each week and volunteers are needed to escort their residents to in-house games and to help them play the games.  Examples of games are bingo, Yahtzee, and casino type games.  Call Kerry Magliane, 610-336-5684, kerrymagliane@lehighcounty.org.

 

MEALS ON WHEELS OF LEHIGH COUNTY, Allentown is looking for volunteers (18+ years) to distribute meals to homebound individuals between 11am-1pm Monday-Friday.   Teams of 2 deliver to 33 routes throughout Lehigh County.  Drive a route or ride along as a visitor.  Bring a friend and form a team or let us provide a partner for you.   Training scheduled for Wednesday 1/31 @1:30pm.  Call Dawn Stillwagen, 610-398-2563, dstillwagen@mealsonwheelslc.org.

SHARECARE FAITH IN ACTION, Bethlehem is looking for volunteer drivers (18+ years) to help safely transport people who are elderly and/or disabled to and from doctor appointments and with grocery shopping in the Lehigh Valley.  Volunteers are also needed to help others who can’t get out on their own through visitation, socializing, and taking them out of their home environment.  All volunteers are asked to attend a 2 hour orientation/training.  Call Cheryl Wilson, 610-867-2177, sharecare8@aol.com.

LUKE’S HOSPICE, Lehigh Valley, Carbon and Monroe counties is seeking compassionate, dependable, and outgoing volunteers in these areas.  A hospice volunteer might hold a hand, read a book to a patient, be a listening ear, be a friend, and much more.
