CENTER FOR CAREER PATHWAYS AND LITRACY – LCCC, Allentown is looking for volunteer tutors for its adult literacy program to work one-on-one or in small groups. Volunteers will work with adults looking to improve their skills in various subjects including ESL. Tutoring times are flexible dependent upon your schedule. Resources and materials will be provided. COOKING MATTERS PROGRAM-SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK needs volunteers (18+ years) to help with six-week nutrition education program at various sites throughout the Lehigh Valley area. Teach kids, teens, adults, parents, and families how to cook and instill skills/knowledge to prepare, cook and execute healthy/affordable meals. Must commit to 3 hours a week for 6 weeks. FLINT HILL FARM EDUCATIONAL CENTER, Coopersburg is hosting an Open House on Saturday, May 18 and needs volunteers from 8:30am-4pm. Help with pony rides, horse drawn hayrides, food, tours, games, special educational programs, woods walk, face painting, horseshoe painting, etc. Minimum age is 11 years with adult. GRACEDALE NURSING HOME, Nazareth is looking for high school students (14+ years) to participate in summertime Junior Volunteer Program. Students generally assist in one of these areas: resident transport, activity assistants, and one-on-one visits. Hours Monday – Friday 9am-3pm with a commitment of at least one day a week required. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF INDUSTRIAL HISTORY, Bethlehem seeks volunteers who have a passion for history to work the admissions desk, give tours, or act as gallery guides. SIXTH STREET SHELTER, Allentown Please join us for a picnic and spring-cleaning day at the Shelter on May 18th, beginning at 10:00 AM. Some of the projects include: Painting, Cleaning, Organizing and Gardening- we’ll organize into teams when you arrive on site. Please let us know if you have a special skill or area of interest. WESTMINSTER VILLAGE, Allentown needs Grocery Shopping Helpers every Wednesday from 9:00am-11:30am or every Friday 12:30pm-2:30pm. The Grocery Shopping Helper would help a resident shop for items at the store and would be able to go on the transportation bus with the residents.
