Chris Thile of Nickel Creek to perform solo show at Levitt Pavilion Apr 15

BETHLEHEM, PA – Highlighted by a Grammy Award winner and also featuring sensory-friendly, comedy, spoken-word and reggae shows, ArtsQuest has added nine live events to its April and May schedule, all of which will be on sale to the public by Friday, March 5, at 10 a.m. All shows are being produced in accordance to CDC, state and city health and safety guidelines.

Multiple Grammy Award-winner and MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile will perform a solo show at the outdoor Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks presented by Coordinated Health, now a part of Lehigh Valley Health Network, on Apr. 15. A child prodigy, Thile first rose to fame as a member of Grammy Award-winning trio Nickel Creek, with whom he released four albums and sold over two million records. As a soloist, Thile has released several albums including his most recent, Thanks for Listening, and has won Grammys for collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Stuart Duncan, in addition to his work with The Punch Brothers, specifically for their album All Ashore.

ArtsQuest is partnering with Accessible Festivals to present Inclusion Dining & Jams – featuring singer/songwriter Ryan Montbleau – in The Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling on Apr. 11. This all-ages/family-friendly show will feature a live American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter along with numerous additional sensory, visual and communication supports alongside of Montbleau, who has collaborated with Martin Sexton, Trombone Shorty and Galactic, among others. Funding for this show has been made possible in part by the ArtsQuest Foundation.

“We are so excited to be working with ArtsQuest to present a truly accessible experience that will incorporate music, art, play and food in a warm and welcoming environment,” said Leah Barron, the co-founder of Accessible Festivals. “We feel so lucky to be featuring Ryan Montbleau as the artist, as his positive and inspiring music is so well aligned with our inclusion-friendly programming.”

The Found Footage Festival also returns to The ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks on May 15 as part of this slate, though outdoors on the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks for the first time. Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher, who have written for The Onion and The Colbert Report, have made a career out of finding obscure VHS cassettes and producing live shows around their bizarre content. This ninth edition of their tour includes the 1988 Miss Junior America Wisconsin pageant, a mysterious tape labeled “bonion sergery” and home movies taken at a Canadian hose factory.

Tickets, which will become available to ArtsQuest members on Tuesday, March 2 at 10

a.m. and the public on Friday, March 5 at 10 a.m., are available at steelstacks.org.

Following all CDC, state and city health and safety guidelines, campus attendance is being limited to ensure proper social distancing and masks – covering both the nose and mouth – are required at all times, aside from when seated eating and drinking.
