Lehigh and Northampton County – Girls on the Run Lehigh Valley (GOTRLV) is proud to announce its partnership with St. Luke’s University Health Network (SLUHN) for its 2021 programs and events. The mission of Girls on the Run is to ´inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using an experience- based curriculum that creatively integrates running.” The program combines training for a non- competitive 5K event with life-changing lessons to enhance self-esteem, social, emotional and physical health. SLUHN’s dedication to improving the health of all citizens in our communities aligns with the lessons and programming of GOTRLV.

The partnership will involve support of 5K Celebration Events this spring and fall. “Our spring 5K’s will look different this year, with each team having their own end-of-season celebratory 5K. We hope to be back to having a larger event by this fall,” stated Liz Fones, Council Director for GOTRLV.

GOTRLV plans to have programs for girls in 3rd through 8th grade at 29 different locations, most of which are schools in the Lehigh Valley, this spring. All Covid-19 safety guidelines will be followed so that many of the teams can meet in person. Girls who cannot meet in person will utilize an updated Virtual Curriculum designed just for this unique experience.

“Girls on the Run is a wonderful program that promotes the physical and emotional health and wellbeing of our children, which is right in line with St. Luke’s mission,” St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Campus President Frank Ford said. “We are pleased to be able to continue this important partnership.”

Spring GOTRLV programs begin April 5th. To learn more about GOTRLV, visit www.gotrlehighvalley.org.
